In her position of manager in the business practices team at Conservation International's Center for Environmental Leadership in Business (CELB), Chris works to engage the private sector on developing solutions to environmental problems which create benefits for the companies, society, and the environment.
She is coordinating CI's biofuels initiatives, which strive to ensure that biofuel development does not pose risks to biodiversity and ecosystems. Chris also works with forestry companies globally to facilitate the incorporation conservation and sustainable management activities at a landscape scale. In Brazil, she works with agribusiness companies including Bunge, as well as local civil society organizations, to promote sustainable land use through the BioCerrado Alliance.
Prior to coming to Conservation International, Chris worked at the World Bank in the Environment family in the Latin America and the Caribbean Region, where she helped design and implement biodiversity, protected areas, sustainable forestry, and carbon finance projects. Prior to this she consulted at International Resources Group (IRG), completed a Fulbright fellowship examining rural development strategies in Spain, and worked as a consultant on public health projects in the Africa Region of the World Bank. She speaks Spanish and Portuguese.
