Our partnership with the Punta Cana Resort and Club is focused on promoting leadership within the Caribbean tourism industry to support biodiversity conservation.
- In April 2003, Punta Cana was a major sponsor of and hosted the conference "Making Biodiversity Work for your Travel Business: Increasing Profitability while Protecting the Environment.” Punta Cana contributed to the programmatic goals of the meeting and continues to be an active partner in the follow-up activities. more
- In February 2003, Punta Cana hosted CI's Board Meeting, where it was approved to begin programmatic work in the Caribbean.
- In July 2001, Punta Cana hosted “Caribbean Biodiversity: An International Conference Integrating Science and Policy.” Environmental policymakers from the region spoke on the challenges their respective countries faced concerning threats to biodiversity and the often conflicting needs to sustain their economies.
